New Design 2012 and some FAQ
Why the new site?
Every year, I start getting itchy to change the design of my website; I do this also to learn some of the latest trends happening and have some fun in the process. Some of the new things found in this design – the responsive layout, so it looks beautiful in most tablets and smart phone, minimalist layout in the front page and one page blog archives.
What are some of my motivations for doing this?
Firstly, I wanted my new design to focus on the things that I care about, the things I have worked on and not about me and my blog like my earlier designs. So, I started with a simple wordpress template and started building on top of it to fill my needs and curiosity. You guys should check out Justin Edmund’s site, He is one of the lead designers at Pinterest. His website was definitely one of the biggest source of inspiration for the current design.
Secondly, I wanted my current design to clear all the clutter and focus on minimalism. I have read a lot on minimalism and wanted to actually give it a shot. This is by no means perfect but, it’s definitely a good start in my journey.
Lastly, As mentioned above, this is an opportunity for me to get inspired and learn some of the latest trends happening in the design industry and have some fun in the meantime, even though designing for yourself can be quite challenging.
What is that fancy box thing going on in the front page?
It’s a very neat jquery add-on called Isotope.
What’s the S2 in your logo?
It actually stands for my name, Sharath Sundar or (2S). My dad gave me the idea, Isn’t he cool?
